The Nigeria Police Force has started disciplinary hearings against one of its police officer who was reportedly caught on duty taking an unlawful drug.
On Friday, April 8, the photo of the controversial policeman smoking Cannabis (marijuana) while seated in a chair in the Ijora region of Lagos state went viral.
In response to the photo, the Acting Police Public Relations Officer, Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi, criticized the action and stated that he has called the Lagos Police Command to locate the officer and name and shame him.
Adejobi said on Twitter, adding that the officer will face disciplinary action from the Inspector-General of Police’s office:
“The police have commenced necessary action on this ugly scene. We have contacted Lagos Command to fish him out, name and shame him, and necessary disciplinary action will be taken from the office of the IGP with immediate effect.
“This is condemned in its totality as such is unpolice. It’s quite unfortunate that we can see an officer of the police, on uniform, degenerates to this level. We must kick again this to serve as a deterrent to others. Thanks. MUYIWA Adejobi.”
