Benzema, who scored a hat-trick at Stamford Bridge, had the ultimate say, securing a 5-4 aggregate victory with a header six minutes into extra time.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side will face either Atletico Madrid or Manchester City in the second leg, with Pep Guardiola’s side leading 1-0 from the first leg.
Mount curled past Thibaut Courtois from just inside the penalty area after latching onto Werner’s pushed ball forward in the 15th minute to reward Chelsea’s solid start.
In the first half, Madrid struggled to break down Chelsea’s tenacious defense, with Ancelotti’s side heading into the break with no shots on target.
Rudiger’s powerful header past Courtois from Mount’s cross leveled the tie on aggregate six minutes into the second half.
