The Lagos state Rapid Response Squad RRS have prevented one Oluwatoye Bamgboye, a 67-year-old man from Oju village in Ore, Ogun State, from committing suicide by jumping into the Lagos lagoon.
Bamgboye was rescued by RRS personnel who were on a routine patrol when he attempted to jump into the Lagos Lagoon on Tuesday.
Personal troubles drove the embattled man to sell many properties, including land, cars, and his house.
Even going to such lengths, he was still unable to fix his problems, despite receiving a loan to do so.
Bamgboye said that he had secured a job, but that when the resuming day arrived, he was informed that the job had been offered to someone else.
“Today being my birthday, I have decided to end it all. The burden and the frustration are too much for me to bear.
My wife has abandoned me in the midst of all these.”
