Two Men Beat Up And Lock Police Officer Sent To Arrest Them In Lagos.

Sule Kurti (49), and Omotunde Ismail (35), were arraigned before a Badagry Magistrates’ Court for beating and locking up two police inspectors who were at their residence to arrest them.

The suspects are accused of assaulting and threatening the two police officers’ life, according to the Nigerian News Agency.

The suspects are standing trial on four counts of assault, a threat to life, breach of peace, and malicious damage.

The prosecutor, ASP Ikem Uko, told the court that the defendants committed the offense on May 7, at about 5 am in the Morogbo area of Lagos.

He said the defendants threatened the lives of Inspector Izevbekhai Imevbore and Inspector Ariyo Kayode, who were sent from Morogbo Division to arrest them.

ASP Uko further told the court: “The defendants hit one of the officers, Kayode, with an iron rod on his left hand and shoulder and inflicted internal injury on him.

“They also assaulted them by locking the police officers in their house and beating them while performing their constitutional duty.

“The defendants conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace by locking the iron gate against them.

“They also damaged one phone valued at N45,000, property of one of the police officers.”
